History of College

Kabli Mal Ramji Das Jain College for Women, Malerkotla affiliated to Punjabi University Patiala, was established in the year 1970 with the sole purpose of providing higher education to under privileged girls of surrounding areas of Malerkotla. Established in July 1970, the college got its affiliation from Punjabi University Patiala in 1981 and from the very beginning, the institution is on the path of success. From the year 1999, the College came under the 95 percent grant-in-aid scheme of Punjab Government and since March 2004, the institution has been getting grant from various schemes of University Grants Commission.

The institution located in the heart of the city offers courses in various streams Humanities, Commerce, Computer Science as well as Post –Graduate courses in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Computers and Commerce. The college also offers various vocational courses. Ours is the first and the only college in the city to start course in Journalism and Mass Communication in under graduate classes. These courses assure bridging the gap among its students due to their educational / socio economic backgrounds preparing them to successfully utilize their acquired skills academically, personally and professionally. The college has completed more than 50 years and during this period, it has established itself as a leading educational institution with the old students of this college occupying positions of eminence in various walks of life.

KMRD Jain College for Women, Malerkotla is run by Lala Kabli Mal Jain Trust, Malerkotla and Jindal Charitable Trust, New Delhi. The managing committee of this benign institution has always given the positive direction to the development endeavors of the institution and have always provided better facilities and environment to promote excellence and opportunities to the students of the college.
